Sealcoating in Shafter —
the sun loses this round.

If sealcoating is on your list in Shafter, you don’t need a contractor on every corner — you need one worth the drive. Our yard is in Fresno, Shafter is on our scheduled Kern County runs, and we’ve been making that trip since 1990.

Shafter turned its flat Kern County ground into one of the valley’s logistics hubs — big distribution rooftops now share the horizon with almonds and carrots.

Pavement here spans the whole spectrum: dock aprons and trailer yards built for constant axle loads, plus the older in-town driveways and church and school lots that have nothing to do with logistics and still deserve doing right.

New logistics pavement out here is often warehouse-grade concrete inside the fence and bare-minimum asphalt outside it; the gap shows in five years. We quote employee lots and access drives to the same standard the docks got.

What we see in Shafter: distribution-center aprons and trailer yards on constant axle loads, plus the older in-town driveways the logistics boom left untouched. The route out is Highway 43 — a run our crews have made more times than anyone’s counted.

Sealcoat in Shafter

What sealcoating does here.

Watch any Valley parking lot go from black to gray and you’re watching the binder burn out of it. The sun does more damage here than the traffic does — oxidized asphalt turns brittle, cracks sooner, and unravels at the surface. Sealcoating is the scheduled defense: a wear layer that takes the UV so the asphalt underneath doesn’t have to, applied on a cycle that costs pennies against what repaving costs.

How the work goes down.

A real sealcoat job is mostly preparation. We clean the surface, prime the oil spots, treat the cracks with hot rubberized sealant, and only then put down two coats of commercial-grade sealer. Lots get done in phases around your business hours; stripes go back on after cure. Skip any of those steps and the seal peels early — so we don’t.

Why this shop

Nothing subcontracted. Ever.

Everything stays in-house — our crew, our equipment, our materials counter (we’re an authorized Crafco distributor). Nothing on a Shafter job gets subcontracted, which is why the quote you approve is the crew that shows up.

Sealcoat questions

Asked before every
Shafter job.

Can you sealcoat over cracks?

Sealer isn't a crack filler — cracks get hot-applied filler first, then the sealcoat goes over the whole surface. Sealing over open cracks just paints the problem.

How long does sealcoating take to dry?

Foot traffic in a few hours, vehicles typically after 24 hours — faster in Fresno summer heat, longer in cool or humid weather. We schedule so the cure happens on your quiet hours, not your busy ones.

How soon can you get to Shafter?

Shafter work rides on our scheduled Kern County runs. Tell us your timeline when you call; we book those trips ahead, and grouping the jobs is exactly what keeps far-side pricing reasonable.
