Paving in Patterson —
done once, done right.

If a new asphalt surface is on your list in Patterson, you don’t need a contractor on every corner — you need one worth the drive. Our yard is in Fresno, Patterson is on our scheduled north-valley runs, and we’ve been making that trip since 1990.

Patterson — the Apricot Capital — circles its distinctive round plaza on the west side, where I-5 logistics parks now share the horizon with orchards.

Distribution-center aprons and trailer yards define the heavy end of the work; commuter-subdivision driveways and the historic downtown circle’s commercial lots fill out the rest.

I-5 distribution schedules run overnight, which flips our usual phasing: Patterson dock aprons get patched at midday when the yards sit quietest, the opposite of a retail lot’s rhythm.

Around Patterson, I-5 distribution aprons and trailer yards on the heavy end, commuter driveways and the round-plaza downtown’s lots on the other. We know the roads (Highways I-5 and 33) and the ground — and both matter more to a paving quote than most people think.

Paving in Patterson

What the job includes.

Most paving that fails early around here fails from underneath. Clay that swells with every irrigation cycle, a skimped base, water with nowhere to go — the blacktop on top never had a chance. So when you hire us for a driveway, a lot, or a private road, you’re mostly hiring what we do to the ground first. Grading, base rock at a depth that matches your traffic, compaction in lifts — then, and only then, hot mix.

How we run a paving job.

Expect a plain-spoken visit: we walk the site, measure it, poke at the soft spots, and give you a written number with the section spec on it — base depth, mat thickness, drainage. If your old surface can carry an overlay we’ll offer that as the cheaper path; if it can’t, we’ll show you why rather than sell you two more years.

Why this shop

What the quote includes.

We’d rather lose a Patterson bid than win it with a thin section. The spec gets written down — materials, prep steps, coverage — so you can compare quotes on substance instead of price alone.

Paving questions

Asked before every
Patterson job.

Overlay or full repave?

An overlay works when the base underneath is still sound — isolated cracking, no alligatored areas, no soft spots. If more than about a quarter of the surface shows base failure, overlay money is better spent on a rebuild. We tell you which side of the line you're on at the estimate.

Does the summer heat affect paving?

It helps and it hurts. Hot mix stays workable longer in a Fresno summer, which is good for compaction — but subgrade prep matters more because the same heat bakes expansive clay hard and the winter rain swells it back. The section has to be built for both seasons.
